DENMARK VOTED THE HAPPIEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD BY THE U.N.

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN THERE?     WHY NOT TAKE A TRIP SOON?

Tip:

Are you seeking to rent a holiday cottage?  Novasol are probably Europe's best holiday cottage company with holiday homes and apartments in many countries.

They don't operate in Britain and that is why you have probably never heard of them.  We give you the chance to use them.

The banner is in German but if you click on it then at the top of the page you will see either Deutsch or German.  Click on that and a language menu will open up and you can click on English to find your holiday home.

HOW TO GET THERE:

D.F.D.S. Ferry service from Harwich England to Esbjerg Denmark finished at the end of September 2014.  A new company, Regina Line, click here, has taken over the route and will offer a three times a week service from Easter 2015.

TIP.  WHERE IS THE HAPPIEST PLACE IN THE WORLD?

THERE IS A PLAQUE ON THE WALL OF THE HOTEL IN RINGKOBING THAT SAYS RINGKOBING IS THE HAPPIEST PLACE IN DENMARK.  IF RINGKOBING IS THE HAPPIEST PLACE IN DENMARK AND DENMARK IS THE HAPPIEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD THEN RINGKOBING MUST BE THE HAPPIEST PLACE IN THE WORLD.  YOU WILL FIND IT ON THE WESTERN SIDE OF JYLLAND ACROSS THE FJORD FROM HVIDE SANDE.  WE THOUGHT THAT HVIDE SANDE WAS A HAPPIER PLACE BUT WE DON'T LIVE THERE SO WE CANNOT BE SURE.

Kronborg slot (castle) Elsinor, Denmark set behind a collection of sailboat masts.  This was the setting for Shakespear's Hamlet.  It is an interesting place to visit.  If you want to swim in the sound the summer water temperature is around 17-20 degrees. Elsinor has many old quaint shops, great if you like cheese and sausages,  and is a handy base for touring north Zealand

The Marienlyst Hotel, Elsinor.  A handy place to stay if you are visiting Kronborg Slot.  Prices are reasonable and many rooms overlook the sound between Denmark and Sweden.  There is a statue of Hamlet outside the hotel. If you want to stay here and visit Copenhagen there is a coastal train service covering the 45Km distance.

Jylland (Jutland)  One side of the sand dunes.  The road goes for many miles with the sand dunes on one side and a fjord on the other side.  The strip of land with the road on it is probably only about 1 Km. wide.  There are many places to park and walk over the dunes onto the beach..  Crowds are not usually a problem.  Danish summer temperatures can get into the 30C range.

The other side of the sand dunes.  The West coast of Jylland is almost one continuous beach for over 200km. with only a few breaks.  In sumer the sea is quite warm.  Try Kvide Sande about 63km north of Esbjerg or Lokken about 28 Km South of Hirtshals for nice seaside towns.  In places you can drive from town to town along the beach.
